Petersberg

The place to
see and be seen

The Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg looks back on quite the long and illustrious history from a cultural and political perspective.

Its historical roots go back to about 3,500 BC, when Petersberg was first settled. At the end of the 12th century, Cistercian monks occupied the mountain and gave it its present name. Saint Peter's Chapel dates back to 1764 and can still be visited today.

The hotel is most famous, however, for its role as the meeting place (once called the German “Camp David” back when Bonn was the capital of Germany) for heads of state and dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II, Leonid Brezhnev, Japanese Emperor Akihito, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and more.
